Job Description: Biomedical Engineer

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical equipment and devices in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, and other healthcare facilities. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal equipment performance and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Maintenance, and Repair
  • Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment, hospital furniture, and healthcare technology solutions in healthcare facilities.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on medical devices to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Diagnose and repair faulty medical equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, industry standards, and manufacturer guidelines during installations and repairs.
Technical Support and Customer Service
  • Provide technical support and training to healthcare professionals on the proper usage and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Assist hospital staff with troubleshooting equipment issues and recommend best practices for safe and efficient operation.
  • Work closely with the sales team to provide technical expertise during product demonstrations and client consultations.
Equipment Testing and Quality Assurance
  • Conduct routine inspections, performance checks, and safety tests on medical devices to ensure they meet regulatory standards.
  • Document and report equipment performance, maintenance activities, and necessary repairs.
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers to resolve complex technical issues and improve product performance.

Qualifications

Education
  • B.Sc./HND in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in biomedical engineering, medical equipment maintenance, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with installation, servicing, and troubleshooting of medical equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare technology, hospital equipment, and regulatory standards.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel to hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities for equipment servicing.
  • May require on-call support for emergency repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Possible exposure to hospital environments, sterile areas, and technical service rooms.
