Job Description: Inventory Manager (Medical Equipment)
The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, distribution, and tracking of medical equipment and supplies. This role ensures efficient inventory management, optimizes stock levels, and maintains accurate records to support sales, service, and operations. The Inventory Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the availability of high-quality medical equipment while minimizing losses and inefficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of all medical equipment, consumables, and accessories in stock.
- Monitor stock levels, ensuring optimal inventory to meet customer and operational demands.
- Implement inventory control procedures to prevent shortages, overstocking, or discrepancies.
- Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
Procurement and Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers to ensure timely procurement of medical equipment.
- Work closely with the sales and service teams to forecast demand and plan inventory accordingly.
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing and timely deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.
Warehouse and Logistics Management
- Oversee storage, handling, and organization of medical equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that all medical devices are stored under proper conditions to maintain quality and safety.
- Manage logistics and distribution to ensure timely delivery of products to customers and branch offices.
- Coordinate with transport partners for efficient and cost-effective deliveries.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Ensure that all inventory items meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Work closely with the service team to manage equipment inspections, maintenance schedules, and recalls.
- Maintain proper documentation of warranties, certifications, and regulatory approvals for medical devices.
Reporting and Data Management
- Use inventory management software to track stock movements, sales, and returns.
- Generate inventory reports for management, providing insights on stock levels, turnover rates, and demand trends.
- Identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and recommend appropriate actions.
- Ensure proper record-keeping for audits and regulatory inspections.
Qualifications
Education
- B.Sc./HND in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse management, or supply chain within the medical equipment or healthcare industry.
- Experience in medical device procurement, storage, and distribution is an advantage.
- Knowledge of inventory management software and ERP systems.
Working Conditions
- May require on-site visits to warehouses, hospitals, and supplier locations.
- Involves occasional travel for procurement, audits, and vendor meetings.
- Requires close collaboration with sales, logistics, and technical service teams.
